Dear Supporters

First of all, I want to thank you for all of your support over the last two years.  Because of you, the issue of school choice -- to stay nothing of the outrageous behavior of the teachers' unions -- is now the hottest issue in California.

Support for our school choice amendment has increased exponentially.

We are in the final drafting stages of our school choice initiative.  We anticipate having approval to gather signatures by the first part of September.

Once we get the AG’s letter, we will have 180 days/25.7 weeks to gather 1.0 million valid signatures.  Our goal will be 1.5 million to make sure no one can play with our numbers.

This means we could be collecting signatures as early as September 11!   That is ONLY FOUR MONTHS FROM NOW!  All we have to do is plan our work and work our plan.  If each of you will commit to specific, concrete, effective political action, we easily qualify this initiative.

Our two signature kickoff events are:

September “Back to School” Campaign.  Volunteers distribute literature and obtain signatures at pickup and dropoff points at public schools.

Super Sunday Campaign.  Volunteers gather signatures outside every church and place of worship in the state on “Super Sunday” weekend.  This will be around the two weekends of October:  October 2-3 and October 9-10.

What can I do?

Simple:  Get signatures by volunteering to be at a specific school or church on a specific date at a specific time.

 How?

  • Tell us what school, church, supermarket, or other place you can cover for us between September 15 and October 15.
  • Tell us what time.  Morning, afternoon, all day, etc.
  • If you don’t know, tell us and we’ll find a few places for you.

Why?

First, getting signatures is all that matters.

Second, 180 days to gather 1.5 million signatures isn’t very much time.  We don’t have any time to waste.  We have to hit the ground running.

Third, your concrete commitment to the success of school choice sends a powerful message to friend and foe alike.  It conveys serious commitment, serious purpose and serious organization.

Conclusion

There is a lot more to talk about, but pre-positioning our personnel and resources is our highest priority.

Thank you for volunteering.  Together we will restore California’s academic excellence for the 21st century.

Sincerely,

Mike Alexander

President
