"Throw a punch for the Children"

Recently heard at the DNC Convention in San Francisco;

"You’ve got to be ready to take a punch," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. "And therefore, you have to be ready to throw a punch. For the children. Throw a punch for the children."

I would like to thank Nancy for her very sage advice which should be directed to those of us who support CaliforniaSchoolChoice.org, One of their proposed solutions to improve education is a California initiative which will allow parents to take back the authority over their children’s education from the government by allowing them to enroll their precious children in the public, private or religious school of their choice while using their share of the state’s educational budget. It even provides accumulated dollars to be used for University or Vocational training. Under this proposed bill, competition will encourage innovation and improvement in our public-school systems.  Now that’s what I call throwing a punch for the children. Thank You Nancy.

Of course, Madam Pelosi was not directing her admonition towards bringing school choice for the benefit of our rising generation. Her words were directed at electing the same people who over the years have turned our schools from a place where our children are prepared to be productive members of our society with the skills to provide for their own needs and those of their communities, to massive indoctrination centers which stand in opposition to historical values of Western Civilization.

The evidence that our schools are failing is clear. Our K-12 reading and writing skills have become so poor that incoming college freshman typically need remedial reading before they can take on college work. Under the disastrous Common Core adopted by our schools, students are taught the Dewey whole word system rather than the proven Phonics system of learning to read. Reading and writing cursive has been eliminated. Don’t expect current students to be able to read our founding documents or the writings of their immediate ancestors. Under Common Core mathematics, getting the correct answer is not as important as learning a convoluted analytic process. Don’t try crossing a bridge designed by a Common Core graduate. History has been re-written to be a never-ending conflict between race, class and gender. Ignored is our founders’ great aspirational ideas. Americanism is not taught. I recently learned that in the Glendale Unified School District, they are not allowed to teach that the Pilgrims came to the new world to seek religious freedom.

All over California, churches and advocacy groups are hosting all day events where speakers are exposing the horrific and age inappropriate things our children are being taught in public schools at the direction of our States Department of Education. In the name of public health 3rd graders are being taught about alternate sexual orientations. Middle school children are engaging in graphic exercises on the use of birth control and prophylactic devices.

Everywhere language is being reshaped in order to limit critical thinking. Textbooks are being dumbed down to better suit the lowest common denominator. The simple fact is that our children are being dumbed down to suit the purposes of the leftist-progressive educational system. Our children are graduating High-School totally unprepared for life and continuing education. They all know three things. We are all going to die from global warming in twelve years and are unable to explain why or are unaware of alternate scientific studies. Socialism is good, Capitalism is evil, and they cannot define either one. Of course, they do not know the historical results when these systems are put into place.

So, I agree with the words of Nancy Pelosi. "You’ve got to be ready to take a punch, and therefore, you have to be ready to throw a punch. For the children. Throw a punch for the children."
